All You Need to Know About the CDA Chess Club

Do you know who can join?
The CDA Chess Club is open to anyone who loves chess! We welcome players of all ages and skill levels, including beginners. Our goal is to foster an inclusive environment for all types of chess players. So join us and learn the ropes from our seasoned players! We don't require any membership fee or national registration. However, the club does keep track of participation and the general level of success after each meeting.
How Often Do Meetings Take Place?
We meet almost every Monday evening from 5:30 pm-8 pm in the North Idaho College Student Union Building, 495 N. College Dr., Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814 unless the building is closed for a school holiday. Our meetings are free, but we ask that you RSVP ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. We also hold tournaments with the Idaho Chess Association, and members are encouraged to attend those.
What Can I Expect at a Meeting?
It depends on the meeting, but we usually gather and determine who is in attendance and our skill levels. Usually, we have structured pairings so that everyone will have a chance to play and meet other people in our club. We use a club rating system that compares your results with different known player strengths to find fair pairings for both players. We plan to add a second night of the week for open play if we get enough interest. Throughout it all, we strive to create an enjoyable atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable participating and honing their craft.
